I am doing my taxes through the free TurboTax system. I was set up to get a nice return but when I submitted my 1098-T, my return went from 1.3k to me owing 15k. In box 1 is my full tuition for the year (60k) and in my scholarships box it is a number over this amount (65k).

TurboTax does include it as income but other tax filings programs I’ve been trying don’t. Turbotax asks with regard to 1098-T, "Was any of the scholarship income not designated to pay 2020 educational expenses?" The amount I enter here is removed from the Taxable Part of the scholarships. What I don't see anywhere is the place to account for the same line item from last year (scholarship not designated to pay 2019 educational expenses) . I'm having a tough time figuring out how to enter my wife's tuition costs for 2019.
